2022 Wisconsin Dells
We gathered in the Wisconsin Dells with check-in at the Chula Vista Resort on Thursday, June 16th.
That evening we gathered for our first rehearsal at the Wisconsin Dells High School. After rehearsal, we had our usual opening night afterglow at Kilbourn City Grill back at the Chula Vista.
Friday we were back at WDHS. We started with a 9 am rehearsal, with lunch at noon followed by an afternoon rehearsal.
At 4 pm we boarded a river boat at Chula Vista to take us to dinner at Cold Water Canyon.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal catered by Stuff’s Restaurant before boarding the boat again for a sunset cruise.
Saturday morning we were at WDHS again for another rehearsal. We were on our own for lunch in downtown Dells. Meeting next at St. Cecilia’s Church for a two-hour dress rehearsal then back to Chula Vista to change. At 4:30 we boarded Duck Boats to shuttle us overland to St. Cecilia’s Church for the 5 pm Mass.
Our concert followed the Mass at 6:15 and we performed to a mainly full house. In memory of our fellow singers Bill Schoonmaker, Jonathan Steinhart, and Jim Mixter we sang Soon Ah Will Be Done. In memory of our maestro Bruce, we sang Steal Away, which he arranged for the Mastersingers in 2000 (and revised it in 2003).
After the concert we headed back to Chula Vista for our customary final dinner celebration.
It was wonderful to gather again in song. Many thanks to Hugh Gaston, Principle at the Wisconsin Dells HS, and his planning committee for hosting us and providing the venue for a fantastic weekend.
