Jun 25, 2010 - Vilnius - Day 2
With our first concerts coming up this weekend, Friday was mostly about rehearsing -- over 5 hours of singing. That means 5 hours of pure fun. And the cloudy, rainy skies relented today, and we had sunshine for our 3-hour walking tour of Old Town Vilnius. Among the churches and other buildings, it was especially fun to see Vilnius’ “Republic of Art" - a tongue-in-cheek enclave in the city with its own humorous laws, holidays, 12-person army, etc And leading into it is a bridge festooned with padlocks: the tradition is for newlyweds to attach a lock to the ironwork of the bridge and drop the key into the river below. With its dramatic history, there is interest in this city around every corner: it should be high on everyone's list of places to visit.
